Volunteer Observer Code of Conduct and Information

  1. Observers will maintain strict impartiality in the conduct of their duties and will, at no time, during the review, publicly express or exhibit any bias or preference in relation to parties, candidates, or with reference to any issues in contention in the election process. Observers will behave in a non-partisan manner at all times.

  2. Observers will undertake their duties in an unobtrusive manner and will not interfere in the electoral process. 

  3. Observer will remain on duty throughout the post-election review until their agreed upon time limit. 

  4. Observers will base all conclusions on their personal observations or on clear and convincing facts or evidence. Please note the source of any evidence not witnessed personally by the observer.  

  5. Observers will not make any comments to the media, and will refer all media inquiries to the Connecticut Citizen Election Audit Coalition. 

  6.  Observers will comply with all State laws and regulations.

  7. Observers will exhibit the highest levels of personal discretion and professional behavior. 

  8. Observers will return phone calls and e-mails within 24 hours confirming scheduling requests. 

  9. Observers will allow plenty of time in order to arrive before the scheduled time for the audit.

  10. Observers  understand that they will not be assigned to their own city/town.

  11. Observers understand that only designated individuals can speak for the Coalition and that they will refer all questions from the press to the designated individuals
